2-Days Workshop on Public Procurement

Under the directions of the Chief Secretary, a 2-days workshop on public procurement was conducted at Management and Professional Development Department (MPDD) from Oct 16, 2015 to Oct 17, 2015. The workshop was mainly attended by the Additional Secretaries of various departments. Five officers of PPRA also attended the workshop while few officers equivalent to the rank of Additional Secretary also attended the workshop. A total of sixty participants attended the workshop on both days from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The participants were mainly trained on topics arranging from principles of procurement, procurement processes, bidding documents, management of procurement contracts and e-procurements with actual case studies and a panel discussion through interactive sessions.
MPDD also made assessment of the knowledge gained by the participants during the workshop. The participants remained interested on different topics throughout the workshop and level of participation of the officers can conveniently be rated as excellent. (Workshop Pictures)

Workshops

A comprehensive capacity building programme has been launched to enhance the capacity of the procurement entities and the employees by orientating them on new procurement Laws / Rules. So far Thirty six (36) workshops have been conducted whereby around one thousand four hundred (1400) (approx.) Public functionaries have been educated/orientated on PPRA Law/Rules. This include Nine (9) workshops in Management & Professional Development Department (MPDD). Eleven (11) exclusive workshops conducted in Punjab Education Foundation, Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, TEVTA, HUD & PHE, PVTC & ICMAP. Sixteen (16) workshops conducted in the committee room of PPRA office which were attended by a good mix of officer of different Govt. Institutions, Administrative Department, Boards of Revenue, Commissioners, DCOs, AG Punjab, Education & Medical Universities, Hospital Administration, TMAs & Lahore High Court. Besides this two workshops at LCCI and one at ICMAP Lahore have been conducted for the awareness of 2nd player of procurement process on PPRA Law/Rules.
